CPT Joshua Reding
Assistant Professor of Military Science
Captain (CPT) Joshua L. Reding was born in Olympia, Washington and grew up in Eatonville, Washington. He received his commission as a second lieutenant in Military Intelligence with a branch detail in CBRNE from the United States Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia in May 2011 and graduated from the Logistics Captain’s Career Course in 2021. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science – Pre-Law from Washington State University and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville.
CPT Reding’s previous assignments include Current Operations Officer – 143rd RSG, Safety/COVID Mitigation Officer- 169th RTI, Instructor – A/1-169 RTI (OCS), Instructor/Writer – C/3-11 IN (OCS), Company Commander – B/3-414 (LDAC), CBRNE OIC – 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, and CBRNE OIC – 277th Aviation Support Battalion.
CPT Reding has deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (2013-2014) and to Jordan in support of Operation Spartan Shield/Operation Inherent Resolve (2020-2021).
CPT Reding’s military education includes Basic Combat Training (2010-2011), CBRN-E Basic Officer Leaders Course (2011), Logistics Captain’s Career Course (2021), Master Resilience Trainer Course, Army Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Common Faculty Development Instructor Course, Radiation Handler’s Course, Toxic Agent Training, Casualty Notification/Assistance Officer Training, Mountain Athlete Warrior Trainer Course, and Hazardous Material Responder’s Course certified at the Technician Level.
CPT Reding’s awards and decorations are the Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (1OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (w/ 1 Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, NATO ISAF Service Medal, Army Overseas Service Ribbon (x2), Armed Forces Service Ribbon, Army Basic Instructor’s Badge, Reserve Service Medal (M device w/numeral 2), Connecticut National Guard Mobilization Ribbon, Connecticut National Guard Emergency Service Ribbon, and Meritorious Unit Commendation.
CPT Reding is married to the former Ashley Hollmann, with whom he has 3 children. They reside in North Branford, Connecticut.
