MAJ Alex Sayre

Professor of Military Science

Major Alex J. Sayre is a native of Ohio, he is married to his wife Ally, they have three children, Hudson, Corbin, and Aubrey.

MAJ Sayre was commissioned through the Ohio University ROTC program in June 2010.  He is a graduate of the Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course, the Maneuver Captains Career Course, and the US Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC). He holds graduate degrees from CGSC and Central Michigan University.

MAJ Sayre’s past assignments include Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Battalion S1 in 2nd Battalion, 8^th Cavalry Regiment (1^st Cavalry Division) at Fort Hood, TX; Battalion S4 and Company Commander in 2nd Battalion, 504th Infantry Regiment (82^nd Airborne Division) at Fort Bragg, NC; Team Leader in 1^st Battalion, 4th Security Forces Assistance Brigade, Fort Carson, CO; Battalion and Regimental S3 in 3^rd (U.S.) Infantry Regiment, Joint Base Myer- Henderson Hall, VA; Company Commander in 5^th Security Forces Assistance Brigade, Joint Base Lweis-McChord, WA.

MAJ Sayre has multiple deployments to Afghanistan, Kuwait, Eastern Europe, and the Indo-Pacific region.

MAJ Sayre’s significant military awards and badges include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Air Assault Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Military Mountaineering Badge, and Order of Saint Maurice.
