Zachary Sholes

National Guard Liaison / MISI Instructor


First Lieutenant (1LT) Zachary Sholes is from Scotland, Connecticut. He enlisted in the CT Army National Guard (CTARNG) in February 2015 and attended Infantry Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Moore, Georgia. He then joined the Nathan Hale Battalion at the University of Connecticut as a Simultaneous Membership Program Cadet and commissioned with a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Sciences in May 2021. Following his commissioning, he earned his Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Connecticut in December 2023. He has since worked as an Intensive Care Unit Nurse throughout CT. His Officer military education includes the Medical Service Basic Officer Leadership Course.

His CTARNG assignments include Springfield Military Entrance Processing Station Assistant Operation’s Officer, 141st Medical Company Ground Ambulance Platoon Leader, Medical Operations Officer 1-102nd Infantry Regiment, and most recently, the 118th Multifunctional Medical Battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment Commander.

His awards and decorations include, the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Army Superior Unit Award.
